Schneider Electric Thought Leadership

The data-center industry desperately needs a sustainability solution

The Challenge

Data centers are now fundamental infrastructure. But they use an enormous amount of energy and water. Schneider Electric has been perfecting data center sustainability and wanted its executives to give voice to the shape of the industry.

The Approach

I prefer primary sources for my work whenever possible. Interviews with subject-matter experts are ideal. For this project, my team and I conducted regular interviews with the client executive about his thoughts on the industry, the direction it's headed, and how other firms can reduce their carbon footprint even as they scale their networking operations.

Speaking directly with clients helps me better understand their industry and to also grasp turns of phrase that help bring the spokesperson's personality to the page.

Regular information sessions gave us the inside knowledge we needed to write like the executive, for other decisionmakers. Our project comprised four long-form LinkedIn posts designed to inform and engage readers.

The Outcome

I drafted and revised the long-form articles for our client spokesperson. The articles received minor LinkedIn engagement and helped set a foundation for future thought-leadership activity.
